Pizzeria Luigi was opened by Luigi Agostini in 2004 in Golden Hill in San Diego, California. Luigi grew up in Varese, Italy, and moved to America when he was 24. After a while, he settled in Golden Hill, which he says reminds him of his Italian hometown, with a community who support local businesses. Luigi decided that instead of commuting to work in Powry, California, he wanted to serve his own community and set up a pizza store in Golden Hill. Pizzeria Luigi's popularity grew, and after a visit from Guy Fieri of The Food Network's Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives its place in Golden Hill was sealed. Pizzeria Luigi now has two locations, doubling it's pizza goodness across San Diego, and popular accounts on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
Pizzeria Luigi has built up a loyal crowd of fans, both from local Golden Hill and from visitors who come all the way to San Diego after hearing the buzz about Luigi's pizza. So how does Luigi keep them coming back for more? "It's a great feeling when people eat at our place and like what we're doing," says Luigi. "We want to make sure we keep our neighbors and friends happy that they are spending their hard earned money with us. We have customers who come back time and again, a few times over a month. Sometimes with friends and family, sometimes alone for a quick bite. We want them to come back."
Pizzeria Luigi has some nice tokens for their customers. A Welcome Token which offers 10% of $2 off (whichever is higher - yes you read that right, whichever is higher), and a Happy Hour Token offering cheap beer are working to get people through the doors and keep them coming back. They also offer free pizza slices for those customers who share their LoyalBlocks check-in to Facebook (as our Loyalpalooza winner Kelly Young did last week). We also spoke with Luigi and his staff about LoyalBlocks, and they had lots to say - and luckily for us, it was all good. "We love that we don't have to have punch cards that people can modify," said Sales Manager Matt DiGesu. "We are in control of this program. We also like that we are part of a community - potential customers may not know us, but now they see us in the LoyalBlocks app and they're more likely to come by."
The ability to explore local areas is one of our favorite uses of LoyalBlocks, and we're really glad that Pizzeria Luigi is benefiting from this. If we haven't convinced you based on their genuine niceness and awesome deals - their pizza is amazing. If you're in the San Diego area, check them out!
