Merchant Monday is a series of posts about some of our favorite merchants. If you’re interested in being featured here, please contact Joanna. If you’re interested in becoming a LoyalBlocks merchant, head over to our website now to set up your customer loyalty program.
Gobo, which means burdock root in Japanese, is a vegetarian restaurant with an organic juice bar in New York City. Brothers David and Darryn Wu have opened two branches of their successful meat-free restaurant - one in the Upper East Side, and the other in the West Village.
We spoke with Danny Wong, restaurant manager at Gobo, about their customers and the dining experience that they are working to create. "So many of our customers visit us at least once a week. Many of them aren't full-time vegetarians but enjoy eating good vegetarian food for health or animal-loving reasons." This is especially true at Gobo, where the meatless menu isn't the only reason to visit. "The Gobo ethos are based on the Zen compassion belief that delicious food and drinks using wholesome, non-meat ingredients will nourish both the body and the mind," says Danny. "Our food is designed to awaken all five senses."
Gobo has been working with LoyalBlocks for nearly two years, and in that time they've built up a loyalty club of hundreds of dedicated customers. With rewards like a discount when customers invite their Facebook friends to join the club, and a punch card that rewards members with free food after 10 visits, Gobo are doing a great job at rewarding their loyal customers.
Gobo are also making the most of LoyalBlocks local campaigns - which allow businesses to send push notifications to their members when they are in the area. By letting their customers know about time-limited offers, like free drinks when they come in to eat, customers who are already in the area are given that extra incentive to come by, have lunch, and get rewarded. We love it!
